What app will replace Instagram

It's hard not to have heard about it on social networks… For a week now, the new Vero application has been everywhere! This is the new social network that everyone is talking about. Launched two years ago by Ayman Hariri, the app has been at the top of the most downloaded apps charts since last week. Vero had more than 600,000 new users in 24 hours. Why such an interest ? Application of the future? We give you our opinion!

What promise?

The founder of Vero wants to offer an alternative to traditional platforms which he says, thanks to numerous algorithms, show what they want to whom they want. This is becoming problematic for more and more brands and influencers who see their engagement rate sharply reduced.

Vero therefore makes it possible to share all types of content using tools to control the audience for publications. The news feed will therefore be chronological to the publications posted and not managed according to an algorithm. The social network also promises not to display any advertising for remuneration and not to exploit the data of its users.
To benefit from all these “advantages”, users will then have to pay an annual subscription (amount still unknown to date).

Why such an interest ?

Influential users on the web and social networks have spoken of their registration to the new platform, which has generated a strong peak in popularity for it. In recent months, the American press has started to talk about this phenomenon of migrating Instagram users to Vero. The creators then took advantage of this visibility to communicate access to the free service for life for the first million free users. Virality then generated a strong enthusiasm and the fear of missing something essential allowed the application to become known to as many people as possible around the world.

We like, we don't like?

All the major influencers of the moment also wanted to register as soon as possible. Since then ... a few gray areas have appeared.
The rules for using the app don't really set it apart from its competitors. Vero is authorized to collect the first and last names, telephone number, e-mails and geographic locations of its users. It automatically collects connection data (IP and pages visited) and keeps any message sent through its service. The phone number is required to create an account and it is not possible to change it afterwards.
These gray areas have sown trouble for a large number of new users. On social networks, many Internet users have expressed their intention to uninstall the application. However, it is not possible to delete your account alone. Vero user support validation is required to delete their account. On the App Store and the Pay Store, the rating of the application does not exceed 2.5 / 10 and the negative comments are more and more numerous ... case to be followed.
