How long does an olive tree live?

Olive trees are known for their longevity and can live for many centuries. In fact, some olive trees in the Mediterranean region are believed to be more than 2,000 years old!

The lifespan of an olive tree largely depends on various factors such as the variety of the tree, the growing conditions, and the care given to the tree. However, on average, an olive tree can live for about 500 years if it is well cared for and not affected by diseases or pests.

In commercial olive orchards, the trees are usually replaced after 60-80 years as they start to produce less fruit and become less productive. However, some olive farmers choose to keep their old trees as they believe they produce higher quality olives.
