Instagram is testing new feature for its 'Stories' after emulating TikTok

Instagram keeps adding new things to its app. While Facebook recently announced that it has rolled out a feature similar to TikTok's, it looks like Instagram has launched a new phase of testing to extend the experience of its Stories.

Instagram has more than 1 billion active users worldwide every day. With its Stories, a collection of photo and video content that generates engagement with users, the app has seen its audience double. Last year, as many as 500 million Internet users reportedly used Stories on a daily basis. Figures that Facebook, the group that owns the subsidiary, intends to see evolve by adding new options to the famous application.

According to TechCrunch magazine, Instagram has launched a test phase with a few users in order to test a new way of presenting its Stories. The option would have been designed to position Stories as a central element within the application.

Currently, Stories appear in a horizontal row, above the user’s News Feed. With this new feature, Internet users will be able to see two rows of Stories, or click on a button that would redirect them to a page showing all the Stories of their subscribers.

The novelty was unveiled on Twitter last week by Julian Gamboa, the manager of a social media company based in California, who noticed the new option on his account. Instagram then confirmed the information to TechCrunch magazine, but did not release further details.

Last year, Facebook said, based on figures from its last quarter, that no less than 4 million advertisers (out of 7 million in total), had already favored Stories on Instagram as their advertising distribution channel.
