SURVEY ON THE INTERNET OF 1999 WITH HYPNOSPACE OUTLAW

We used to say that everything was simpler before. When the world was going well, when there was Club Dorothée on TV and when rap was apparently better. Since then, two towers have been missing in Manhattan and we have all grown old, forgetting the pre-2000 carefree attitude and stepping straight into a world of bills, responsibilities and real problems for grown-ups. A world that Jay Tholen (Dropsy the Clown) tries to make us forget with his Hypnospace Outlaw, a game of investigation located in the Internet of 1999.

Merchantsoft, at the cutting edge of technology, has just released its first version of Hypnospace, a high-tech banner that allows you to navigate websites and groups online while you sleep. A revolutionary process which, like all new high technology, must be seriously monitored. This is where the enforcers, a team of hypnospace surfers come in to spot the various crimes committed online. Copyright infringement, harassment and other piracy must be identified by enforcers to guarantee the proper functioning of the Hypnospace. And guess what: you are a hardworking enforcer, who will also have to spot the abuses committed in this new kind of cyberspace. The little twist is that you are doing this job during the last weeks of 1999, a few days before the Y2K bug, in an alternative operating system and Internet, specially created for the occasion.

Pick a branch of juniper, place it upside down in a glass filled with honey, add three cigarette ends, say "grapple, grapple, grapple" and it appears. Pipomantis goes down from the ceiling laughing like a damned, infiltrates memory cards and replaces your backups with photos from X-Japan. When he is about to bite and his mouth reveals a thousand sharp teeth, swear allegiance to Catherine or die.
