Dragon Marked for Death Review
THE BREATH FALLED WITH DRAGON MARKED FOR DEATHFrom Mega Man Zero to Azure Striker Gunvolt, not to mention more recently by Blaster Master Zero, the studio Inti Creates has given life to some of the most engaging pixel art games in Japan. Yes, there is also the Gal Gun series but that's not the point of the day, and it's not really in 2D, hmm? At the start of this year, it's time for Dragon Marked for Death, a new self-published project that has been pitched for over ten years, and which is finally materializing on Switch after several years of gestation. At the risk of seeing the breath fall.
Dragon Marked for Death is therefore part of the old heritage of hack and slash, revisited in a 2D / SD version with very fine sprites, because after all, it is the specialty of house artists. But do not imagine a new Dragon's Crown on the simple faith of this description: Inti-Creates obliges, the action gets carried away on only one plan, in the line of Gunvolt and other Mega Man Zero which made the reputation of the studio Japanese.
And who says "size and cut" necessarily implies classes that work in synergy, otherwise what good to join to avenge the honor of the Clan and repel the Medius Empire. There are four here, but only two when choosing a version to download. Two games coexist indeed on the store, each sold € 14.99, with on one side the Frontline Fighters pack for the Empress and the Warrior, on the other the Advanced Attackers offer which includes the Ninja and the Witch, supposed to be less binary to play. And it is also the case in fact: twirling with its gliding flight and a double jump as a bonus, the Shinobi can bounce on opponents to "mark" and smash them on the ground.
Rather exhilarating to play. With its combinations of six to eight keys reminiscent of the horn of Monster Hunter to activate buffs and healing spells, the Witch is by far the most original class and the one that requires a little more mastery, with all the muddles that 'one can imagine in the heat of the moment.
