Access to the old account
Please note, to be able to access this option, you must still have access to your old account. To do this, check that your old phone number is still linked to the WhatsApp account.Change phone number
Now you can follow the various steps to change the phone number. First, on your old phone:
Open the WhatsApp application
Go to Menu> Settings> My account> Change numberEnter the old phone number (the number linked to WhatsApp)
Enter the new phone number in the dedicated field
Transfer chat histories and make a backup Menu> Settings> Discussions> Chat backup> Save
Switch to the new phone now
For those who have not backed up their history via Google Drive, the transfer will have to be done manually, as follows:
Install WhatsApp on the new phone
Enter the new phone numberRestore the backup
And after ?
By changing your phone number, all of your account information will be transferred to the old phone number. This will also automatically delete the account associated with the old phone number. To maintain an optimal communication experience, ask all your contacts to save your new phone number.
