How to bypass sms verification with a disposable anonymous number

Tired of giving your cell phone number to All Internet? There is an easy way to avoid falling on spam lists.

Double authentication, identity verification, confirmation of account creation via phone number: today, lots of sites or applications send a good old SMS to validate an operation with a secret code. In some cases, this is a real step forward towards more security: for example, two-factor authentication guarantees that someone who has your password will not be able to log into your account if they do not have the additional stole your smartphone.

In other cases, however, the practice is superfluous and can also be used to ask you for additional information to add to your customer file for potential advertisers. How much spam do you receive by SMS or robocall? After reporting these numbers by forwarding their text messages to 33,700 as concerned citizens, you may be wondering if there is a way to stop giving this information to websites that don't need it.

MANUAL
Registration
First, start by registering for the site. You will only need to act when you are prompted for SMS confirmation.

The scary site

Obviously, you're going to have to go to a site that doesn't seem overly friendly. We tested Receive SMS Online which gives us the impression that we are on the personal page of a Russian hacker but which has the merit of functioning and not asking for information. There are others, such as Receive SMS Now or Recieve SMS. All have the same look and offer the same services.

All you need to do is take the number of the country in which you are, for example +33758470533 at the time of this writing and enter it in the telephone number box of the site that requests it. Be careful, the service changes phone number frequently: do not save this number for later use, there is a good chance that it will no longer be of use.

The validation code

Now click on the button of the number you entered to access the list of received SMS. The site will probably ask you to deactivate your Ad-block to open the page, arguing that ads are their only source of income to run the service for free.

In a few seconds, you should see your SMS appear on the list. It is public, but only you have access to the confirmation area which allows you to validate the code, so there is nothing to worry about. If someone else is using it, it just won't work.

And there you have it, you have avoided broadcasting your 06 or 07 unnecessarily. The only drawback comes from numbers that are not renewed often enough: in the case of a registration, someone may have already used the number on the chosen service and therefore it is no longer usable.
