The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 4 Review
The Walking Dead: The Final Season - A superb final episodeYears have passed, Clementine has grown up, but now is the time to wrap up the story of the young survivor in a highly anticipated final episode. Subtitled "Take us Back", he even manages to conclude the series with enough talent to hope to convince fans of the genre to venture there one last time.
We will not return to the game mechanics or the particular additions to gameplay on this 4th episode for a simple reason: these more or less take up the foundations established by the previous episodes and do not prove to be particularly innovative.
PERFECT PACE, TOP NARRATION
The Walking Dead: The Final Season - A superb final episodeThis is the only real criticism that can be made of the episode, which retains an extremely classic structure. QTE, very pronounced linearity to the detriment of the exploration phases and in favor of an important action, thus come to dress up an episode that does not suffer from it at any moment. On the one hand because the latter knows how to juggle perfectly between the famous phases of actions mentioned above and more intimate sequences, on the other hand because its status as the last episode ultimately requires concluding the whole with a certain mastery of narration .
The Walking Dead: The Final Season - A superb final episode
The choices are also more rare - although one of them has a real influence on a scene - but does not prevent the title from offering some subtle differences on its conclusion in order to justify your decisions during the adventure . Finally, the episode marks above all by its series of striking scenes. Whether it is by its soundtrack, its few wide shots or strong and well brought narrative choices that we will keep quiet so as not to spoil the surprise, “Take us Back” constantly manages to keep the player in suspense and play with his emotions , a quality of the first two seasons that the series manages to find in this last straight line. As for its conclusion, it turns out to be both touching and satisfying, even offering a narrative evoking the tragic fate of the Telltale studio.
The notes
+ Positive points
A festival of remarkable scenes
The end, touching and just
-Negative points
A very classic structure
If he does not innovate particularly compared to his elders, which prevents him from reaching the heights of the first installments of the series, this last episode of the last season of Walking Dead shines all the same thanks to its variety in execution: the action scenes are well carried out, accompanied by superb wide shots and a series of striking phases which lead to a convincing finish. Fair and emotional at the same time, it serves as the icing on the cake and now allows us to say goodbye to the series and the Telltale studio with a lighter heart.
