HOW TO BEST SECURE YOUR INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT?

Having your Instagram account hacked is a particularly uncomfortable situation, especially if your business account has been hit. So, to avoid this situation, here are our tips for securing your Instagram account.

# 1 - Choose a complex password

This seems to be the most obvious piece of advice, and yet there are still too few people to follow it.

For hackers, the most common way to hack accounts is to find users' passwords, or to use an old one that has already been compromised. In fact, you can check if any of your passwords have already been compromised using the free "Have I Been Pwned?" Tool. ". If this is the case, never reuse that password and change it on all accounts where you have used it.

To create a strong enough password, we recommend that you include at least eight characters, some of which will be uppercase and others lowercase, including special characters and numbers. Also, do not use existing words: this makes it much easier for hackers.

The best trick is yet to create a mnemonic device to create an effective and fairly secure password. Make up a phrase that you can easily remember, for example: My Password Is Now Quite Secure, Huh?

Take the first letters of each word, as well as the special characters, and turn some words into numbers. Here is what our password would give then with the sentence mentioned below: MpEmAs, 1?

Also, we advise you to change your password regularly. Experts recommend doing this once or twice a year to ensure maximum safety.

# 2 - Enable two-factor authentication

to secure your Instagram account
Almost all applications now have two-factor authentication; Instagram is obviously one of them.

With this feature enabled, each time you log into your Instagram account from a new device, you will need to validate your connection with a unique code sent to your mobile phone.

Here is the procedure to activate double authentication and thus secure your Instagram account:

Go to your Instagram account, and go to your settings. Click on "Security" then on "Two-factor authentication". Press "Start" and activate the "Text" option.

Instagram recently launched a new option that now allows a third-party authenticator app to help keep your account secure. To activate it, click on the option "Authentication app" and follow the instructions.

# 3 - Make sure the linked email address is secure

Your email address is a real gateway to all of your online accounts: if someone has access to it, they have access to everything. It is therefore essential that you ensure the safety of this one!

We recommend that you apply our two previous tips to your email addresses as well. This will ensure maximum security for all your online accounts, including your Instagram account.

# 4 - Revoke access to suspicious third-party applications

to secure your Instagram account
It is also advisable to revoke your account's access to suspicious third-party applications. In other words, this means that any websites or apps that are linked to your Instagram account and that pose a possible risk should be taken offline.

To do this, go to your Instagram profile from your computer. Click on your settings then go to "Authorized Apps". There you will find the list of applications to which you have given permission to access your account. You can then revoke the access of those who seem suspicious to you or who do not respect the conditions of use of the social network.
