One can even punctually embody a demon and destroy his fellows with disconcerting ease. In terms of design, we stay on something very similar to the component of 2016, and therefore rather stylish and faithful to the original material. The music holds up well, and follows the action well, but the compositions are clearly of uneven quality, and your servant, although loving with crazy love saturated guitars, sometimes saturated, precisely. Also, know that you will see the face of the Doomguy through its visor, now transparent. If lovers of patibular mouths will be thrilled, purists will be able to correct all this with a good old PC mod for families. We can also visit his room, on his ship, and realize that he is a normal type, who collects records, figurines, guitars and ... guns.
The campaign turns out to be rather long, and will keep you going for about fifteen hours, to which you can add a few if you are hunting for secrets. We can come back to it in different difficulty modes, and even in "extra life" mode, resolutely retro, where you have to collect 1up in the levels, and never reach the game over, otherwise you will have to start over .. the whole game. Also on the menu, with a netcode that seemed reliable, we will find a multiplayer mode called BATTLEMODE, quite basic. Three players embody a Doomguy, two big demons with their AI minions, in a 2 to 1 death match. Pretty cool, but where is the classic multiplayer? Not there anyway.
The whole is supported by a high-flying technique, to which my frozen screenshots do not honor. The 3D models are not the finest in the world, just like the textures, but with the design of DOOM, beautiful lighting and beautiful light effects and a constant 60 FPS on PS4 PRO, it's a real pleasure to see evolve all this before our eyes. Note all the same, we are in a Bethesda game, let's not forget, some small graphic and sound bugs are on the program, even with the patch 1.02. A little unpleasant shrill sound during loading, for example. They are also very fast. Or, if you jump against a wall, the game reams: we are all a little QA testers inside us. Despite everything, some satisfactions should be noted, such as the unpleasant feeling of teleportation from our preview, which has disappeared: the action, even if it can start from very far away, is accompanied by a slight movement of the camera which gives life to the thing. Clearly, technically speaking, we were seduced by DOOM Eternal.

We can even extrapolate by talking about Fast-FPS, as the game is fast. DOOM Eternal is rather difficult in normal mode, evidenced by our many deaths under the merciless blows of our enemies. And new super tactical: you are now equipped with a flame thrower that releases tablets of armor to enemies, a mechanic now essential in higher difficulty levels. Clearly, the formula already worked, and it is always the case with this small innovation which adds another dimension to the fights.But the real madness of this DOOM Eternal, you have to go find it in what probably made you tick when you read the title of this article. Yes yes, DOOM Eternal "innovates", and will add an "80s platform game" aspect to the recipe. The proposed jump phases are fast and dangerous. The Doomguy can climb certain walls, must perform double jumps interspersed with dash and target shooting, while avoiding fireballs, flaming spinning rods and platforms that fall when stepped on. Yes, if Mario Bros is not far, we are still clearly a notch below in terms of inventiveness, but it works, and in the end, even if it is not really true to the soul of DOOM , it is squarely in the arcade and retro spirit that inhabits this series. It makes sense.

To get away from this unforgiving universe between two climbing sessions, you will have at your disposal a limited but rather cool arsenal, and with two modules per weapon that really change the sensations. Some calibers are proving to be well farted, like this crossbow which fires a long horizontal beam which cuts everything in its path, or the improved submachine gun which spits bursts of missiles until the ammunition is exhausted ... It will be necessary against the hordes of demons that will assail you from all sides, with new ones, but also variants of the monsters that we already knew. Few bosses are on the program, but that's one of the old-fashioned specificities of DOOM. On the other hand, the game innovates quite a lot by proposing a degradation of the state of the body of our enemies, who lose bits of flesh as the combat progresses: a kind of life bar which does not say its name! Also note that with each new meeting, we will explain how to overcome your enemy with an explanatory video ... Even against a boss. It may be a little too much. But hey, tutorials, it will be necessary as the commands are actually complex and full of subtleties. It is also rather "complicated" to play the joystick, and our PS4 command back attachment has made us proud by deporting L3, the button to do everything, and the Dash button, to make them more accessible The aiming aid is present, and rather effective! And to relieve us in our quest, DOOM Eternal is endowed with a rather cluttered RPG aspect, with several different categories of improvements, such as multiple skills, runes. to equip, flame thrower modules, armor improvements or even weapon improvements to ... improve. We get lost a little with all these dedicated menus, but the bonuses are far from being negligible.It is not only in the menus that we will get lost. In itself, the level design is quite successful, with GoldenEye 007 decor traps, to get rid of your enemies in style, a few color keys to go look for, intelligently constructed combat zones, secrets at every corner of street, but regularly, once or twice per level, we found ourselves struggling, going around in circles despite the map: the game does not guide us, and most of the time, it's clear, but when we missed a tiny bit of wall outlet or a switch hidden behind a box - truthful - we have a bit of a hassle. Clearly not a good point for you, DOOM Eternal.
